Day 1: Arrive Auckland
After we transfer you from the airport, settle into your hotel, then see Auckland your way

Day 2: Auckland - Bay of Islands
Over the Auckland Harbour Bridge and through Orewa and the scenic Hibiscus Coast. Walk amongst the Kauri trees at Parry Kauri Park. You'll have time to explore Whangarei, the northern-most city in New Zealand.
Visit historic Kawakawa, the Train Town, one of the few towns in the world with a railway track running through the middle of the main street, for a nostalgic look at the Gabriel. Later, travel by coach to Paihia and the beautiful Bay of Islands. Enjoy a scenic cruise through the Bay of Islands to Cape Brett and the famous 'Hole in the Rock'. Explore Urupukapuka Island on your return to Paihia.

Day 5: Auckland - Rotorua
Board the Overlander to journey through the heart of the North Island. Travel along the Waikato River to the Waitomo Caves for a guided tour and to discover the amazing Glow Worm Grotto. Then it's on to Rotorua. On your orientation tour you'll soak up views of Lake Rotorua.
Tonight experience a traditional Maori Hangi feast and concert.

Enjoy a city tour of Wellington.
Visit Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand. Later you'll visit the Silverstream Railway in Upper Hutt to view some of the preserved New Zealand railways and industrial steam and diesel locomotives.

Day 9: Wellington - Christchurch
This morning you'll cruise the Cook Strait into tranquil Queen Charlotte Sound.
At Picton board the TranzCoastal and journey down the East Coast of the South Island. Travel over 100 kilometres pinned between the Pacific Ocean and the rugged Kaikoura Ranges. Next you head through the Canterbury Plains en route to Christchurch.

Day 10: Mt. Cook
Today you will see Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki, visit the Church of the Good Shepherd and soak up the spectacular alpine scenery of Mt. Cook National Park. If you like take a optional scenic flight over Mt. Cook (weather permitting).

Day 11: Dunedin
En route to Dunedin you'll see the famous white limestone buildings of Oamaru.

The excursions can be booked through your Tour Director or Driver/Guide. You will be asked during the early part of your tour to name those that you may wish to join, as advance reservations are often necessary. Please note that occasionally weather or seasonal conditions may not permit their operation. Some also depend on a minimum number of participants and suitable time being available.

Fares are in New Zealand dollars and are subject to change. Please note that reduced rates for pensioners or children may apply on some tours. Fares are inclusive of GST. Once all bookings have been arranged by your Tour Director, they are treated as firm bookings. Late cancellations and refunds are at the discretion of the operator, not AAT Kings.
